The position will begin on July 1, 2026. The successful candidate is expected to hold a Ph.D. in Political Science by the time of the appointment. The department is interested in candidates whose scholarship and teaching focus on the moral and ethical foundations of liberal democracy. Research and teaching topics of particular interest include the grounding of rights and republican government, studies of the works of central figures of classical and modern political philosophy, political rhetoric, and statesmanship.
The ideal candidate will also be a teacher-scholar who can contribute to CMCs Open Academy Initiative , which embodies the Colleges foundational commitment to freedom of expression, viewpoint diversity, and constructive dialogue.
The teaching load is two courses per semester. The candidate must have demonstrated ability to maintain an active, high quality research program and to maintain the highest standards of excellence in teaching. The successful applicant will teach courses in their area of expertise, including one introductory course a year.

Anticipated Annual Salary Range:
$110,000 - $210,000 per yearProcedures
