Evernorth is seeking a skilled PostgreSQL Database Administrator (Database Administrator Senior Advisor) with experience in both cloud (AWS/Azure) and on-premise environments. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in systems administration, performance tuning, and Linux server management. Experience with automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible is highly desirable. In this role, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver robust, enterprise-level database solutions that support mission-critical applications. You will be responsible for architecting, deploying, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting development and production database environments, ensuring data integrity and availability. Additionally, you will contribute to the design and implementation of scalable cloud-based database solutions aligned with organizational policies and standards.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain AWS Aurora , Azure , and PostgreSQL database servers across all environments.

• Perform database performance tuning and optimization.

• Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems with a focus on reducing incidents.

• Design and implement redundancy, failover, and backup/restoration strategies based on data retention requirements.

• Support database software upgrades and patching.

• Mentor team members on AWS Aurora, Azure, PostgreSQL, and cloud technologies.

• Provide recommendations and insights on best practices to leadership.

• Participate in an on-call rotation to diagnose and resolve production issues.

• Stay current with emerging database and cloud technologies and support their adoption.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Strong understanding of AWS networking concepts (e.g., VPN, Security Groups, Subnets) is a plus.

• Familiarity with AWS tools such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Performance Insights is a plus.

• Hands-on experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Python).

• Proven experience in database performance tuning, scaling, clustering, and troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of tools such as DPA, Etcd, HAProxy, Patroni, and pgBackRest is preferred.

• Excellent collaboration skills with experience working across cross-functional teams.

• Ability to quickly learn and support new database technologies.

• Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and facilitation skills.

• Technical acumen to ensure solutions deliver business and customer value.

• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

• Demonstrated ability to implement impactful changes.

• High level of integrity, energy, and work ethic.

• AWS Cloud Practitioner and Certified Database certifications are a plus.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
