Database Manager Qualifications The Lab School of Washington’s Office of Institutional Advancement (IA) seeks an experienced professional who has a mastery of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, paired with development experience in prospect research. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced work environment, has independent school experience, and is a team player. The position requires the ability to take initiative, work independently as well as collaboratively, organize and prioritize to meet deadlines, and multi‑task on a regular basis. The candidate must maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Database Management and Reporting Enter all new constituent data respectively, in a timely manner Ensure the accuracy of all constituent records in Raisers Edge, including the management of the relationships between constituents, actions, notes, appeals, education & business information and entry of information regarding constituent involvement in School activities Provide accurate constituent reports as needed to IA staff, Head of School, trustees, etc. including profiles of new parents, giving updates and analysis Create and run giving reports monthly for internal and external use and analysis Research and find missing constituent information, and update records accordingly Export and review all lists associated with the Annual Report, ensuring data accuracy and accounting for donor sensitivities such as anonymous giving Capture solicitor information and related prospects; run solicitor reports regularly Support constituent mailings for publications, solicitations, invitations, information dissemination etc. including generating and preparing segmented constituent and mailing lists Make inputs into other reports, as assigned, including the annual NAIS DASL Advancement Section report and reports required for Form 990 and the annual audit Process returned mail and email messages; update database records accordingly Audit Raiser’s Edge quarterly for data entry consistency; and clean‑up/update records, as required Gift Processing Record all gifts received (checks, credit cards, stock transfers, DAFs, employee payroll deductions etc.) and generate prompt acknowledgment letters to donors; maintain copies of all gifts received Follow up with donors who provide incomplete data for donation processing Prepare checks for deposit, delivery to the Business Office, and work with the Business Office on quarterly and year‑end gift reconciliation and related reports Generate reports for the annual audit, as needed Process pledge reminders to donors on an established schedule Donor and Prospect Research Proactively research all new parents and continually provide refreshed research on priority constituents, utilizing paid and free, online and offline donor research resources, such as Research Point and iWave, to support fundraising efforts Provide research to support Moves Management strategies for frontline fundraisers Special Events/Programs Support the planning and execution of Lab events, including those related to The Lab School Fund, Gala, alumni relations and capital campaign General Advancement Activities Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending relevant workshops, review of professional publications, and establish personal networks – all seeking to keep the Manager up to date on industry standards. Provide support for all appeal mailings Other duties as assigned Requirements Bachelor’s Degree plus 8+ years of experience in database management, preferably at an independent school Highly organized with superior attention to detail Demonstrated mastery of Raiser’s Edge Experience with prospect research tools such as iWave or Research Point Excellent written and verbal communication skills High energy, flexible, hardworking self‑starter, who excels at multi‑tasking Is comfortable taking Initiative and has the ability to work independently and collaboratively Appreciation of the Lab School’s mission Benefits This position offers a competitive salary and benefits.
