Responsibilities Supervise customer service associates and designated hitters. Manage the front end of the store and contribute to the overall operations of the Pharmacy and Retail Store. Support the Store Manager with the overall operation of the store to achieve company deliverables. Work an alternate schedule with the Store Manager with minimal overlap. Assume responsibilities of all store activities in the absence of the Store Manager. Ensure proper merchandising, protection of store assets, and improvement of store sales and profitability. Lead and manage store team members, including recruitment, hiring, performance management, and discipline of direct reports to ensure engagement and performance against company deliverables. Engage in Customer Experience responsibilities: greet and assist customers, resolve complaints, coach and train staff, and monitor customer service metrics to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty. Operations: supervise daily store operations, assign activities, manage scheduling, and ensure proper coverage; collaborate with external partners to support store operations and community outreach; leverage data and team input for fact-based decisions; oversee cash handling, inventory, security, and safety; ensure compliance with policies and applicable laws; manage store appearance and maintenance; ensure staff are proficient with systems and software. Drive full-store business performance by analyzing financial and performance data, using KPIs and operating statements to identify opportunities and implement action plans; support growth initiatives as directed by leadership; provide coverage for Pharmacy during peak periods when necessary. People & Performance: lead and develop team members, conduct coaching and performance reviews, manage talent pipelines, participate in hiring decisions, and enforce policies consistent with laws and company policy. Training & Personal Development: complete required training programs, pursue self-development, and maintain any required licenses (e.g., pharmacy technician license as applicable). Communications: maintain open communication with the team, plan and convey company/store strategy, and respond to questions or concerns. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with a solid academic record, or satisfactory completion of Walgreens Community Internship Program, or High School Diploma/GED with two years of supervisory experience (not requiring direct reports). Demonstrated leadership, professional ethics, self-motivation, strong communication skills, and solid business acumen. Completion of Store Manager training program (LEAP) or willingness to complete Walgreens Leadership Essentials training within 12 weeks of ESM start date (for those placed in ESM role on or after June 1, 2021). Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule including extended days, evenings, and weekend hours. Willingness to accept promotion into a Store Manager position, which could require relocation to a different store location. Ability to transfer to other Walgreens retail assets within the same hiring area. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Internal candidates: management experience including supervising others and experience across both front-end and pharmacy. The current salary range for this position is $45,000 - $71,550. The actual salary within this range offered will depend on geography, skills, education, experience, and other relevant factors.
