Overview Join to apply for the Emerging Store Manager role at Walgreens . This position involves supervising customer service associates, managing the front end of the store, and advising on the overall operations of the Pharmacy and Retail Store. The role supports the Store Manager with the store's operations, works alternate schedules with minimal overlap, and assumes responsibilities when the Store Manager is absent. Ensures proper merchandising, protection of store assets, and helps improve store sales and profitability. Responsibilities Customer Experience: Engage customers and patients, greet and assist with products and services, resolve complaints promptly, model customer service best practices, coach staff, and develop plans for improvement in front-end and pharmacy to exceed customer expectations and build loyalty. Operations: Supervise store operation and team members, assign daily activities, manage scheduling (opening/closing/shifts), approve time records and time off, and ensure adequate coverage. Collaborate with external partners to support community outreach and Pharmacy Operations. Leverage data and team input to make fact-based decisions and monitor impact. Inventory & Asset Control: Oversee front-end and pharmacy inventory, complete resets/revisions and price changes; analyze inventory trends and train staff on SOPs. Ensure clean, safe, and presentable store conditions; manage repairs and emergencies; ensure knowledge of computer/technology systems among team members. Financial & Administrative: Manage cash handling, including register counts, bank withdrawals, armored car pickups, safe deposits, and change orders. Ensure compliance with all company policies, laws, and regulations (including sale of alcohol, tobacco, fresh food, and pharmacy products). People & Performance: Lead and train team members; conduct performance management, coaching, and disciplinary actions; recruit, hire, and monitor performance; develop pipelines for talent and ensure diversity in leadership. Establish accountability through performance management and improvement plans. Training & Personal Development: Complete Store Manager learning and development programs, pursue required trainings, monitor personal performance, and maintain an Individual Development Plan. Obtain and maintain any required pharmacy technician license per state. Communication: Maintain regular communication with the team through one-on-one discussions and group meetings; respond to questions and concerns; assist in planning and communicating store strategy. Qualifications Basic: Bachelor’s degree with a solid academic record or Walgreens Community Internship Program, or High School Diploma/GED with two years of supervisory experience (no direct reports required). Demonstrated leadership, professional ethics, self-motivation, strong communication, and business acumen. Completion of Store Manager training (LEAP) or willingness to complete Walgreens Leadership Essentials training within 12 weeks of ESM start date (for ESM placed on or after June 1, 2021). Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule including extended days, evenings, and weekends; willingness to relocate if promoted to Store Manager; ability to transfer to other Walgreens assets within the same hiring area. Possess the ability to obtain a valid pharmacy technician license as required by state. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. Internal candidates: management experience across front-end and pharmacy; external candidates: relevant business or retail/food industry experience.
