Job Description
We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to support, develop, and enhance EHS compliance and risk management processes. This role involves driving understanding and engagement to improve EHS performance and integrating EHS into daily operations. The EHS Specialist will also execute EHS compliance programs and support the development and implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs, tools, and standards.
Work Environment - PLEASE READ
The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Candidates must be willing to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and/or weekends, and be able to travel to French Guiana for two weeks at a time. The position requires the ability to obtain a yellow fever vaccine.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and execution of EHS compliance programs.
- Develop and enhance EHS compliance and risk management processes.
- Train and communicate to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders for compliance achievement.
- Conduct investigations to prevent occupational diseases and industrial health hazards.
- Promote EHS awareness through effective employee communication and participation.
- Serve as a key point of contact for safety and environmental issues.
- Support regulated waste management, including consolidation and inspections.
- Conduct compliance tasks such as storm water sampling, waste inspections, and life safety audits.
- Execute compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements.
- Support and conduct EHS audits, develop action plans, and implement countermeasures.
- Perform risk assessments related to jobs and equipment.
- Maintain accurate metrics for reporting to onsite management teams and corporate reporting systems.
- Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures.
- Establish and manage the safety committee.
- Drive continual improvement efforts to reduce safety and environmental risk.
- Support site meetings, safety committees, and floor inspections.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
- 1+ years’ experience in EHS support, particularly in warehousing.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel professionally.
- Experience maintaining confidentiality in security and personnel matters.
