Medical Billing Specialist – Anesthesia Billing Office

Position Summary:
Express Employment Professionals is searching for a Medical Billing Specialist, responsible for accurately processing anesthesia billing claims, ensuring compliance with payer requirements, and optimizing reimbursement for services provided. This role involves managing the entire billing cycle—from charge entry and claim submission to payment posting and follow-up—while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in all patient and financial data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review anesthesia encounter forms and operative reports to ensure all charges are captured accurately and coded correctly.
• Enter and verify CPT, ASA, and ICD-10 codes specific to anesthesia procedures.
• Prepare, submit, and track electronic and paper claims to insurance companies and third-party payers.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, identifying and correcting billing errors promptly.
• Post payments, adjustments, and refunds accurately to patient accounts.
• Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and pre-authorization requirements.
• Communicate with anesthesia providers to clarify documentation and coding questions.
• Generate patient statements and handle billing inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality.
• Reconcile daily batches and assist with month-end reports for management review.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, payer guidelines, and internal office policies.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in  anesthesia or specialty billing .
• Strong knowledge of  CPT, ASA, ICD-10 coding , and medical billing processes.
• Proficiency with  medical billing software .
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to resolve claim discrepancies.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality in a private office setting.
