Position Summary

Supervise program including bachelor and masters level mental health care professionals, paraprofessionals and/or interns. Manage referrals and assist with day-to-day functions; provide psychiatric clinical and case management services. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Under general direction/direct patient contact: 

  • Coordinates the day-to-day operations of program services and adheres to model fidelity

  • Supervises a multi-disciplinary staff of clinicians and/or mental health professionals

  • Confers with staff regularly regarding interventions, case progress, and related matters for the purpose of promoting and evaluating professional development and assuring quality of care, as well as reviewing work in progress.

  • Conducts case conferences with clinicians and interns for supervision and consultation; reviews psychiatric case records as needed; supervises staff in assessing social, emotional and economic causes of problem behavior and mental or emotional disorders and in developing and modifying treatment, termination or transfer of cases; may be responsible for assignment and reassignment of employee caseload.

  • Triages referrals, manages waitlist and assigns cases

  • Participates in provider meetings as needed; may provide direct care or handle some of the more complex cases

  • Evaluate staff work performance

  • Ensures compliance with related federal, state and local regulations, as well as departmental policies and procedures.

  • Participates in the establishment or revision of policies, procedures, guidelines, goals and objectives.

  • Attends departmental leadership meetings routinely 

  • Provides consultation to student interns and non-mental health care staff regarding mental health care services, programs, and guidelines.

  • Assists with program planning, implementation and evaluation activities.

  • Participates and supports program and staff growth and development.

  • Participates in community outreach and public relations activities.

  • Provide on-call either as a primary or secondary responder and if needed may be required to appear in person during “off hours.” 

  • Interviews, hiring/onboarding of new employees 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling or a related field 

  • Possession of valid clinical license in Connecticut

  • The equivalent of three years of post master’s experience as a behavioral health/mental health clinician providing clinical and/or management services. 

  • Valid driver's license a must for supervisors of home visiting services

  • Ability to diagnose using DSM 5

  • Must have excellent writing and communication skills, be highly organized

  • Must be able to work as a part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience involving lead or supervisory responsibility is desirable.

  • Additional certifications in specialized clinical care such as DBT, CBT, trauma informed care, etc.

  • Experience/knowledge of substance use disorders and LGBTQ+ population
