Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for inpatient and outpatient wound care with at least 1 year of experience and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a Level I Trauma, acute care, teaching, and children's hospital
• Primary service is inpatient rehab with wound care for both acute and complex outpatients
• Covers wound care needs including debridement, advanced dressing selection, and wound vacs
• Partners with surgical teams such as plastic surgery, trauma, vascular, orthopedics, and others
• Cases include complex traumatic, surgical, and chronic wounds such as venous and arterial ulcers
• No weekend, call, or floating requirements
• Day shifts, either 5x8 or 4x10 schedules are available
• Uses Cerner for charting; EMR experience preferred
• Position does not accept local candidates living within 75 miles of the facility
• Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and reassessment of care for wound management patients
• Procedures include NPWT, assistive device training, pain and sensory assessment, and skin integrity management
• Works closely with multidisciplinary surgical teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Day-to-day documentation is completed in Cerner
• Ceil blue scrubs required
• COVID vaccine is mandatory unless an exemption is completed
• First-time travelers are accepted
• RTO for more than 7 days requires approval and no RTO allowed in first or last 7 days of contract
• Travelers must be fully available for onboarding and compliance within the first 1-2 weeks after signing
• Perm employees may return as travelers if they have been away for at least 12 months

Requirements

• Current BLS certification required
• NM physical therapy license required or must be obtained before start (pending license accepted)
• At least 1 year of experience in physical therapy, with wound care experience preferred
• New graduates will be considered
• Ability to perform selective debridement, advanced dressing selection, NPWT, and complex wound management
• Completion of COVID vaccination or approved exemption form required
• Driver’s license or written transportation plan required if no valid DL is available for compliance
• License required if applicable
