Computer Hardware Repair Technician

This is a contract position with an opportunity to be hired full-time.

Integrity Trade Services  is partnering with a local utility company to hire a Computer Hardware Repair Technician

Job Location:  Round Rock TX 78665
Shift: Mon-Fri 8:00am - 4:30PM
Pay Rate: $30 per hour (DOE)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Computer Hardware Repair Technician with hands-on experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing complex computer circuits. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of electronics, advanced soldering/rework skills, and the ability to interpret schematics, diagrams, and test results. This role plays a key part in ensuring product quality, reliability, and timely resolution of hardware issues. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform debug, diagnosis, and repair of electronic circuits at the component and system level, including computer motherboards, power supplies, and peripheral devices. 

• Use test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, power supplies, etc.) to isolate and verify circuit faults. 

• Execute precision soldering, desoldering, and rework on through-hole and surface-mount (SMT) components, including fine-pitch and BGA packages. 

• Follow engineering change orders (ECOs), rework instructions, and technical documentation accurately. 

• Support failure analysis by identifying root causes of defects and documenting findings. 

• Collaborate with design engineers, quality, and production teams to provide feedback on recurring issues and suggest improvements. 

• Maintain compliance with ESD, IPC standards, and workplace safety procedures. 

• Keep accurate repair logs, test reports, and inventory of tools/materials. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Proven experience in debugging and repairing electronic circuits, particularly computer hardware. 

• Strong soldering and rework skills with SMT and through-hole components. 

• Familiarity with reading and interpreting schematics, board layouts, and assembly drawings. 

• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzer, etc.). 
• Knowledge of ESD handling procedures and IPC workmanship standards. 

Preferred Qualifications

• IPC-7711/7721 certification (Rework, Modification and Repair of Electronics Assemblies). 

• Experience with BGA reballing/rework and X-ray inspection equipment. 

• Previous work in electronics manufacturing, repair, or service environments. 

• Basic knowledge of computer hardware, firmware, and system-level integration.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements 

• Hands-on bench work in a laboratory, production, or repair environment. 

• Regular use of microscopes, fine soldering tools, and test instruments. 

• Ability to sit/stand for extended periods and handle small, delicate components.
